Leeds United in the Premier League

This is a record of Leeds United's performance in the Premier League since the division was formed in 1992. Leeds United were one of the 22 founding members of the Premier League and spent 12 seasons in the division before being relegated after finishing 19th in 2004.
The club's highest finished league position came when David O'Leary's side finished 3rd in 1999/00 and qualified for the Champions League.
The club restored its Premier League status under Marcelo Bielsa after a 16-year absence with a return to the top flight following promotion from the Championship in 2020 and secured a highly-respectable ninth-placed finish in 2020/21. Leeds escaped relegation on the final day of the 2021/22 season with a dramatic 1-2 victory at Brentford to finish 17th with 38 points and relegate Burnley.
Leeds have spent a total of 15 seasons in the Premier League over two spells (1992-2004 and 2020-2023).
Howard Wilkinson has taken charge of the most Premier League matches as Leeds manager (169) and kept the most clean sheets (58). David O'Leary won more Premier League matches in charge (75) than any other manager or head coach and holds the highest points per game tally (1.79).
Aaron Lennon remains the youngest player in Premier League history to assist a goal, which came for Leeds against Arsenal (for Alan Smith) in November 2003 at the age of 16 years, 199 days.
Eleven players have scored on their first Premier League appearance for the club: Lee Chapman, Imre Varadi, Frank Strandli, Briane Deane, Lee Bowyer, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Alan Smith, Nick Barmby, Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich.
